Produce: Jenni is Sharing Oak Cliff Resources

Jenni spent time researching one of our most basic necessities, from the angle of providing it to loved ones, while following safe distance guidelines and socially isolated. She solves problems for our clients daily, so it isn’t surprising that she turned up fantastic resources. If this is resourceful for you, she is sharing her knowledge with the rest of us.

“At the end of last week, I spent 3+ hours trying to find grocery pickup or delivery for our family member who’s 84 years old and sheltering in place. We’re not doing restaurant takeout or walk-in groceries to remain as safe as possible for ourselves and those who rely on us. I tried them all: Shipt, Amazon Fresh, Central Market, Kroger, Albertsons, Tom Thumb, Instacart. At that time, they all had broken calendars or were scheduling a week+ out.

I did come up with a few resources that I’d like to share with you.

These were all accepting orders as of March 24:

  • HEB Ennis still has pickup for this week. The others look like they have April 1 pick up. You may decide to place an order now, to get in line.
    • Pros: they have a pickup option; they offer all types of groceries and other items.
    • Cons: limited organic selection, because they are still a full walk-in grocery, they can omit items you ordered that go out of stock before your scheduled pickup-for instance, we got about 75% of our order.
  • Hardies is offering to pick up at their warehouses, and a few select locations. If you use FB, they update those additional locations daily. 10# for $20 of produce. They offer a small amount of meats as well for warehouse pickup.
    • Pros: fresh produce and meats.
    • cons: what you get is what you get, no canned goods or other items
  • Oddfellows for pickup only, you can order online with the top tab “order online.” They have some produce, dairy, meats, tp, wine/beer. You can follow them online for updates to daily availability. They will deliver for $5 to anyone within 3 miles (in case you need to share this info with others).
    • Pros: local, natural, delivery available.
    • cons: limited selection
  • Rapscallion is offering pickup only of pre-packaged kits. With several days of supplies. FB has their daily offerings…it’s pricier at $150. But it seems like it will work for omnivores eating for 3-5 days.
    • Pros: local, simple.
    • Cons: set menu, seems meat-heavy, pricey.

That’s what I have today. Please feel free to reach out with any tips or questions.”

XOXO Jenni, Em, Keegan, and Miranda – life feels unpredictable right now, but we’re here where we can be and happy to share information.

You are important to us. Please take care of you.

Our team is doing our part to stay safe and practicing varying degrees of social isolation to protect ourselves, your families, and you. While at home, we’re still working for you by following the market and government changes, which affect the housing market. As always, we’re here to chat about real estate and the possible implications for your plans and talk things through with you, given the vast amount of uncertainty right now.

Also, we realize that real estate is, most likely, not what is on your mind right now.  We get that. You aren’t alone, and everyone is handling this unprecedented situation and their reactions differently.  And, you’re doing great. Whatever works for you, works. Whatever you’re doing, it’s enough. Whatever you’re doing to cope right now is excellent, and if it changes drastically tomorrow, that’s great too.

We have been with our clients through the most significant purchases and sales in their lives. We’re caregivers, problem solvers, social folks, and supportive by nature. So, if you want to chat or reach out, we’re here. If you want to facetime and show off the new hobby, we can’t wait to see it. If you want to swap Netflix and book recommendations, we’re all over it.

If you’re struggling, it’s understandable. You aren’t alone, and taking care of yourself is crucial, especially as you’re caring for your family, friends, and neighbors. Similar to an airplane emergency, put on your air mask before you can help others. We’re sharing two resources that we’re aware of; Better Help and Talk Space offer counseling via email, phone call, or video chat.
